Our competitive program is for swimmers looking to advance their skills in a more challenging environment.
At Strathcona Synatics we train all of our swimmers through a variety of activities including rhythmic gymnastics, spin, speed swimming and more. Our goal as a club is to train athletes based on Canada’s Long Term Athlete Development Program (LTAD).
All age groups in our competitive program are required to attend 3 competitions a year, and our season runs from September to May. All athletes in the competitive program have the potential opportunity to swim a solo or a duet as well as the main team event. There is also the opportunity to attend training camps in the summer.
Previous experience in synchro is not a requirement to be in the competitive stream! We actively encourage all participants to try the program that is right for them.

For swimmers aged 13+ who are new to the sport, this allows these swimmers to gain the necessary skills in their first years of development as well as allowing each swimmer to experience success at competitions.
Practice times are determined as needs are assessed.
10 and under is a great program designed to introduce athletes to a competitive environment. We recommend that if your child is under the age of 8, that they try our Intro to Synchro Program. Our 10 and under program focus on the basics of synchro including flexibility, coordination, routine skills, and teamwork.
Our 11-12 program is open to new swimmers and returning swimmers. The 11-12 program begins to teach swimmers more advanced synchro skills, as well as a larger focus on flexibility and body strength. The same core skills from the 10&U category are emphasized.
13-15 and 16-20 Competitive:
These programs are aimed at returning swimmers. Aspiring athletes who are 13 or older are eligible for this program but must assessed by our coaching staff. We usually recommend our Novice Program for new athletes (see above).
The 13-15 program focuses on solidifying previous synchro skills and performing at competitions. Swimmers at this age learn more advanced skills as well as a more synchro specific training regime.
Our 16-20 program allows athlete’s to continue training and perfecting their synchro skills. Swimmers continue training in flexibility, body strength and technique.
